Book Review: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Synopsis:

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after
she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

My Review:

Reading this book had me go through some really overwhelming experience for the most part. It started out fairly normal but interesting enough and then there was a BAM! And it was hard! It completely took me by surprise and I was left dazzled and with a smile, partially because of the peaceful ending.

But God! Seriously!? Despite the disheartening experience, I just found the story itself a heartfelt. Nonetheless, one of the obvious negative points about the story though was the epic relationship between Sky and Holder portrayed in the excessive and cheesy kissing scenes that slightly ruined the romantic aspect of the book for me, don't get me wrong I loved their relationship and how it started and everything about it - it was so endearing :/ And I felt a strong connection with Sky and Holder.

Honestly, it was hard getting out the story , you know. The whole thing just lingered for a long while and whenever I went through what I read in my mind, I would just ache, it genuinely felt like having my heart ripped out. Such an emotional rollercoaster and such a BRILLIANT plot!

Overall, it might not be the happiest book ever but it was engaging, compelling and I just found the story itself a masterpiece. I enjoyed reading it to pieces! Plus, I had a hard time putting it down as I was just glued to the pages :) So MANY gripping emotions took place but then Holder was perfect in a way that made the story feel surreal - I mean this in a good way. I highly recommend this book because personally I think that it was a book worth reading. It was emotionally draining, cute, well-written & creative!

YAY for emotional books! I LOVE books that tug at your heartstrings - it really makes you feel involved in the story! Even though it is a shame you didn't love the romance, I'm glad you liked both the main characters.

Great review! :D
